Marc-Andre ter Stegen has come to the defence of his teammates following allegations from Leganes goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar.
Cuellar accused the Barcelona players of being too unprofessional as they didn’t congratulate them after Leganes’ famous win over the Spanish giants in the La Liga.
The defeat was a surprising one for Barcelona as they were expected to steamroll the Spanish minnows. Philippe Coutinho’s stunning volley was expected to be the first of many but Leganes fought back with two successive goals to inflict a defeat on the Spanish club.
Ter Stegen said, “I don’t think that it’s true,
“We are looking at ourselves, of course. It was not against them. In the end, we didn’t do what we wanted to do. We had another objective when we started the game. When you concede two goals in two minutes, of course, you’re not happy with the result.
“But we know that it was an amazing job they did and we tried to recognise that as well. But, of course, you are not happy about the performance and then sometimes also it could happen that we’re thinking more about ourselves. We are just human
“I will say it as it is: sometimes we are pissed and you are not in the mood, you just want to walk in [to the dressing room]. It’s normal human behaviour.”
