According to reports in Italy, Real Madrid left-back is expecting to complete a move to Juventus in the coming days. The Brazilian is keen on leaving Real Madrid this summer and the Bianconeri are being regarded as the front-runners for his signature.
Los Blancos had a substandard 2018/19 season with Marcelo losing his first-team spot to Sergio Regulion, who has now joined Sevilla on a season-long loan. Further, the club has also signed 23-year-old left-back Ferland Mendy from Lyon for £47m, who is rumoured to be Zidane’s first-choice player in that position next season.
Despite assurances from the manager, Marcelo believes his starting spot is in danger and is looking to move. Arsenal are also interested in signing him, but a move to Juventus appears to be more appealing given the Bianconeri’s strong squad and the presence of his best friend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Journalist Duncan Castles also discussed the player’s intentions on Transfer Window Podcast. He said:
“I’m hearing from a source close to the Real Madrid left-back Marcelo, that he is very keen on moving to Juventus, and expects that deal to go through in the coming days.”
“A fascinating move for Marcelo to go there, as (Zinedine) Zidane wanted to retain the player as a second choice, a co left-back alongside new signing Ferland Mendy.”
“And what I’m hearing the Brazilian end is Marcelo doesn’t like the idea of losing his guaranteed starting space at Madrid and has been looking for options elsewhere.”
