Liverpool have set their sights on signing wantaway Real Madrid left-back Marcelo, but could be pipped to the signing by Italian giants Juventus.
The Red’s have made a £16 million pound bid for the services of Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno and are also said to be keen on signing Marcelo aswell.
It is understood that Marcelo is anchoring after a move away, after being dropped to the bench for most parts of last season. It also seems that boss Carlo Ancelotti prefers Fabio Coentrao’s defensive qualities compared to the brazilians.
Marcelo is out of contract at the Bernabeu next summer and it appears Madrid are willing to cash in on the defender now, rather than letting him go on a free.
At the moment, it is Juventus who are currently front-runners for the signature of the left-back but Liverpool may decide to make enquiries of their own very soon.
