Marcus Rashford Form Isn’t Bothering Gareth Southgate

Gareth Southgate is not worried by Marcus Rashford’s form after the player wasted chances in England’s 0-0 draw with Croatia in the UEFA Nations League.

Rashford could have killed the game as he had two wonderful chances but Croatian custodian Dominik Livakovic stood tall to deny the player a chance to find the back of the net.

The Manchester United forward’s inconsistency has hurt him pretty bad this season as he is still struggling in front of the goal. Despite getting enough game time this season Rashford hasn’t been able to justify his talent so far.

Southgate is expected to tweak his starting lineup a bit when facing a mighty Spain on Monday but has confirmed the youngster will start the match. “I was really pleased he was in the areas to get those chances and his general performance as the game went on, he looked more and more of a threat.

“He scored twice for us last month [against Spain and Switzerland] and we love him to bits, so he’ll take more of those chances than not.

“The more important thing for me is we’ve created good chances and the likes of Marcus, Harry [Kane] and Raheem [Sterling], the forwards we’ve got, they’ll finish them. We’ve just got to make sure we’re creating them.”
