Striker’s adopted father has passed away

Liverpool Football Club have given Mario Balotelli compassionate leave after the passing of his adopted Father.

Brendan Rodgers‘ squad returned to training today at Melwood ahead of the new season, but it was apparent that one certain figure was not in attendance.

Striker Misses Training

Balotelli was not snapped with the first-team and hasn’t yet returned to pre-season unlike the rest of his team-mates.

However, it’s now been revealed the reason behind Balotelli’s absence is because of the passing of his adopted Father, Francesco.

Instead of joining the squad today, the striker is expected to join Liverpool’s tour of the Far East and Australia, which commences on Sunday.

Balotelli Thanks Support

Balotelli has since released the following brief statement: “Thanks everyone for the support. I really want to thank everybody. My family thanks all of you too.
