BBC Pundit predicts the Premier League’s midweek fixtures

Mark Lawrenson usually sits down on a Friday evening to do some predictions for the weekend’s games, but this week, he is having to do a double shift as there are some tasty midweek fixtures for football fans.

Below are his predictions!

Crystal Palace 1-1 West Ham

“I am sure he wants another three points to climb away from the relegation zone as badly as Tony Pulis wants a first victory as Eagles boss but it is often the case that in a game where, when both teams really need a win, it ends up being a draw.”

Arsenal 2-0 Hull City

“I don’t think Bruce will be able to change his team round too much and it is asking a lot for them to repeat that kind of display at the Emirates Stadium three days later – I cannot see anything other than an Arsenal win.”

Fulham 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

“I would expect to see an improvement from Fulham in Meulensteen’s first game in charge but I think Tottenham are still a bit sore after losing 6-0 to Manchester City last week and they will be desperate to end their four-game run without a league win.”

Liverpool 3-0 Norwich City

“The Liverpool fans will demand a performance too, as a reaction to what happened against Hull, and I think they will get one.”

Manchester United 2-0 Everton

“United are not in City’s class at the moment but I still think they will have enough to beat the Toffees.”

Southampton 2-1 Aston Villa

“Southampton come into this game having just played Arsenal and Chelsea, both away. They did not get any points from those games but their performances in both matches definitely deserved something.”

Stoke City 2-0 Cardiff City

“That is what the Premier League is all about, and they should be able to deal with it, but I would still back the Potters to win.”

Sunderland 0-2 Chelsea

“Chelsea went to West Ham last week and won comfortably, and I expect them to do the same at the Stadium of Light.”

Swansea City 1-2 Newcastle United

“The Magpies are up to sixth at the moment, which is great for them but I would hesitate to say they will keep this form up.”

West Brom 0-2 Manchester City

“I know they have only won once on the road in the league all season, so it might surprise a few people but I am going to have to go for a City win.”

What do you think of these predictions then?
