BBC Pundit believes Newcastle will see off rivals Sunderland, and City to beat Chelsea

As Transfer Deadline Day steals most of the headlines, BBC pundit Mark Lawrenson still took time out to pick his predictions for the weekend, and here they are!

Newcastle United 2-0 Sunderland

“Sunderland enjoyed a great win over Stoke in midweek but they have had 24 hours fewer than Newcastle to prepare for this game, and playing on Wednesday night and again on Saturday lunchtime does not give them much of a turnaround.”

West Ham United 2-1 Swansea City

“It will be tight on Saturday but West Ham might just nick the three points.”

Cardiff City 1-1 Norwich City

“The Bluebirds played with only one up front at Old Trafford. I am not sure if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be more attacking at home, but he should be.”

Everton 1-1 Aston Villa

“We know Aston Villa are dangerous on the counter-attack away from home and they will be full of confidence when they arrive at Goodison Park.”

Fulham 1-1 Southampton

“I thought Fulham would have turned the corner by now, but defensively they are still very poor – and very porous. A draw on Saturday would be a big step in the right direction for them.”

Hull City 2-1 Tottenham Hotspur

“This is a horrible game for Spurs. Their attitude needs to be right too, because plenty of teams have gone to the KC Stadium thinking ‘who are Hull and what are they doing in the top flight?’ It is only at the final whistle that they realise.”

Stoke City 0-2 Manchester United

“I think United’s recovery will continue at the Britannia Stadium. There was a spark about them against the Bluebirds but they have got a long way to go because they have a fight on their hands to finish fourth.”

West Bromwich Albion 1-1 Liverpool
“Pepe Mel is known as an attack-minded manager but I cannot believe he will make the same mistake. He needs a point, and a draw against Liverpool would be a good result.”
Arsenal 3-0 Crystal Palace
“Pulis knows how to make his teams tough to break down but I cannot see Palace stopping Arsenal on Sunday. There is a big gap in quality between the sides.”
Manchester City 2-0 Chelsea
“Can Chelsea pull it off? I am not sure. City are just awesome at the moment.”
