Marouane Fellaini feels they need to hit the ground running in a bid to secure a positive result in the next matches.

Manchester United endured a frustrating evening at the Old Trafford as they were held to a 0-0 draw to Valencia in the Champions League. United hardly pressed the opponent defence and except Marcus Rashford everybody looked clueless in the opposition attacking third.

United now haven’t won at the Old Trafford since their opening day win against Leicester City and pressure is mounting on Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese manager’s popularity has nosedived in recent times but Fellaini has claimed each and every player is ready to back their manager.

“I think we wanted to show that we are together. Everybody (was behind the idea). I think everybody is behind the manager.

“Today I think we showed improvement and we have to keep going. Everyone is going in the same direction to try to improve and to do better.

“I think it was a bad day against West Ham. We were all bad. We have to do our best and do our job.

“We showed it today, but we have to do better on Saturday,” the Belgian midfielder added.

“Yeah (it was a frustrating night), but it was much better than West Ham.

“We put energy, effort, we run forward, we try to score the goal. OK, we didn’t but we have to keep going.

“We have to continue to work hard. We have the next game Saturday and we play every three days so it’s another chance to do better.

“The spirit is there. You saw it today, but we have to win on Saturday.”
