New Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini has admitted that he thought he missed out on the chance to join David Moyes at Old Trafford this summer, but luckily for the Belgium, the club got the deal done just in time.

The Red Devils were desperate to land someone on deadline day after failing all summer to sign anybody of stature, but with just minutes left on the clock. Moyes finally made a signing and it was his old-hero at Everton, Fellaini.

The deal cost United ÂŁ27million, and the Belgium centre-midfielder has revealed that he thought the chance had passed him once the clock ticked past 11pm on Monday evening.

‘With Everton and the chairman, you never know. Sometimes, I thought there was no chance that I could join United. I so happy when the chairman accepted the deal.

‘I talked with the manager [Roberto Martinez] because it was a big opportunity for me to join one of the biggest clubs in the world. My objective is to win trophies. I play football for this. With Man United, I have a big chance to win something.’
