Cameroon defender putting interest in him to one side

Marseille defender Nicolas N’Koulou is putting speculation of a move to either Arsenal or Chelsea to one side, as he focuses on Ligue 1.

The 25-year-old could be available for a cut price of £7.2 million in January, with the defender out of contract at the end of the season.

However, despite interest from two of London’s biggest clubs, N’Koulou knows he must put those thoughts to one side as he concentrates on his performances for Marseille.

“I cannot speak about the future, we have only played about 10 matches.” N’koulou said of the speculation.

Current situation not easy for N’koulou

“I cannot think about it whilst I am on the pitch, whilst I am wearing this shirt. It is not necessarily easy, but this situation has happened.

“I cannot speak about it for the moment, due to the situation of my team. Extending? Everything is possible. The representatives have not spoken to me.”

Both clubs could wait until the summer to sign N’koulou on a free, but cannot guarantee the Cameroonian does not sign a new deal between now and the end of the season.

N’koulou has made five appearances for Marseille in Ligue 1 this season, with the club to face Toulouse in Ligue 1 action on Wednesday evening.
