Martinez future unclear

Porto midfielder Jackson Martinez has declared his future could be uncertain after impressing for Columbia at the World Cup.

Martinez did a wonderful job filling in for injured Ramadel Falcao, and has been targeted by Liverpool and Arsenal. Gunners manager Arsene Wenger is looking for a strike partner for Olivier Giroud after losing Nicklas Bendtner on a free transfer, while Brendan Rodgers will be looking to try and replace Luis Suarez, with his transfer to Barcelona reportedly near completion. Rodgers believes that his style of play would suit his side and would make a good strike partner for Daniel Sturridge.

Martinez has admitted that he was an Arsenal fan as a child, but his buyout clause is ÂŁ35million, a possible problem but a figure both managers could be willing to meet. The 27-year old believes that his future is unclear, but is well aware of the clubs chasing his signature,

“Right now, I don’t know what will happen. I have two more years on my contract with FC Porto.

“There is interest from some clubs, something that is perfectly normal when a player is performing well, but I always have to take into account the fact I am under contract and I have to respect it.

“Only time will tell what will happen.”
