Chelsea winger Juan Mata may be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window after recent reports coming out of Italy and Spain respectively suggest that the Spaniard is a target for both Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

Mata hasn’t featured on a regular basis under Jose Mourinho, and may have to look elsewhere to play regular first team football in order the gain a place in Spain’s World Cup Finals squad for the upcoming tournement in Brazil.

Mata has started just eight of Chelsea’s 19 matches this term and been frozen out of the first team squad, after the unfortunate defeat to Newcastle United at the beginning of October.

The popular winger, who signed for the Blues in the summer of 2012, had been a regular in the first team set up, until manager Jose Mourinho’s recent arrival in the summer.

Mata, who has won the clubs fan’s player of the year twice in a row, didn’t even make the substitutes bench in Saturday’s  3-0 victory in the London derby at West Ham United.

Mata’s lack of game time at the Bridge has alerted a trio of Europe’s top club’s, with Italian giants Juventus, French outfit Paris St Germain, and Atletico Madrid, who are all looking to a possible loan deal to suit the unhappy winger.

PSG were close to reaching an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of Mata in the summer and an agreement with the player remains in place should the deal come back to life in the next transfer window.

But with Mata’s absence in the first team set up the winger could be open to a move abroad, which could suit him in the short term.

Mata has so far started just five Premier League games this season and has found himself playing for a weakened second-string team in the Capital One Cup.

Mata’s manager Jose Mourinho stated in the Champions League press conference, ahead of tonight’s game against FC Basel.

â€śThere is one thing that is obvious, which is I can’t change the rules and I can’t start the match with 12, 13 or 14. I’d love that because many people deserve to play and Juan is one who deserves to play because of the way he works, behaves, the way we see him every day.

“But if I play him and I don’t play (Eden) Hazard or Oscar, you are asking me about Hazard or Oscar in this moment.

“It’s a consequence of the squad we have where, for these three positions behind the striker, we have so many options.

“It’s hard for me. I don’t have a special pleasure leaving players out. I enjoy playing them and making them happy, but there’s nothing I can do.”

Will Mata move on ? time will tell.
