According to Spanish newspaper Marca, Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic will be loaned to Chelsea. The 24-year old wants to leave Real Madrid so that he could become a more important player at another club.

Real Madrid weren’t willing to sell him but Kovacic was adamant and did not train for Madrid. Hence, Real forcibly have to loan him to Chelsea. However, the loan move to Chelsea give Real Madrid control over the Croat’s future. Currently, there is no notice about a loan fee or any contractual clause.

Mateo Kovacic joined Real Madrid from Inter Milan in 2015 at a fee of €29 million. Inter Milan had no intentions of selling Kovacic but had to do so because of Financial Fair Play regulations. The midfielder has played 109 matches for Los Blancos, scoring three goals and providing 8 assists.

Kovacic featured in 5 of Croatia’s matches at the World Cup, assisting Ivan Rakitic’s goal against Argentina.
