Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy has revealed that he snubbed a move to PSG, in favour of a move to Arsenal last summer.

The 29-year-old has had a disrupted start to life at Arsenal, with his season hampered by injuries, but has revealed that he could have been plying his trade in the French capital, rather than North London.

He was a target for PSG, but turned them down, and has finally revealed why.

He told La Voix du Nord: “PSG talked to my agents but they said I wasn’t their priority.

“That was the end of it.

“There were rumours of greater or lesser foundation.

“There was talk, but it never went anywhere.”

His departure from Newcastle last summer is something that the defender feels upset about, that he never got the chance to say goodbye to the St James’ Park faithful.

Talking about his departure from Newcastle, Debuchy added: “It was tricky.

“Everything was done quickly during the World Cup so I could not say goodbye.
