Right-back pens emotional letter ahead of proposed Manchester United switch
Torino defender Matteo Darmian has all-but confirmed his move to Manchester United after writing a goodbye letter to the fans of the Serie A club.
The right-back has been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the past few days, with reports emerging on Monday that a ÂŁ12million deal was in the pipeline.
However, it’s now been confirmed that he will be leaving the Italian club after he wrote a goodbye letter to the fans and the club.
The 25-year-old will now pen a deal in England with United after the two clubs agreed terms on a transfer.
Darmian will become Louis Van Gaal‘s second summer signing, following Memphis Depay from PSV Eindhoven.
Goodbye Letter
“A wonderful three years where I learned to play, have fun and above all I learned to live!
“It is thanks to my teammates and my fans and Mr. Ventura, more than a coach for me, the second father.
“Right now I have no words, I’m just crying.
“Remember that I leave Turin for a future career choice, not because I am evil.
“Turin will always be my second home, I never tire of her. I do a good luck to all the team and the fans.
“This is not a goodbye but a see you. In these three years we went back to A, we won against Juventus after 20 years and we are back in the so-called Europa League.
“I think to go away with a clear conscience affixed, at least I hope so.
“I gave all of my heart and my soul. It was an honour to play for Torino and also to captain a few times!
“I think the love I gave to this city, will be returned in a few parts.
“Thanks for everything Turin!”
