Mauricio Pochettino Admits Tottenham May Not Sign Players In January Due To Fund Shortage

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he is going to have a very difficult January transfer window as funds are not available for the club to splash on players.

Tottenham Hotspur restrained themselves from signing any players in summer and given the current situation the club is again going to sit back in the next month unless they sell some players to rake up some funds.

The North London giants are building a state of the art stadium and costs have been escalated due to the repeated delay in the construction of the stadium. Chairman Daniel Levy has been working out hard to find a solution but so far he has failed.

With the top four race heating up Pochettino would love to strengthen some departments but the manager is not sure whether he will sign players or not. “He asks me if I’m going to spend money.

“I don’t have money.

“One thing you need to understand is that Tottenham have built the new training ground and one of the best stadiums in the world with our own resources,

“It’s not like people came from I don’t know where and said: ‘What is the cost of the new stadium and new facilities? Here’s ÂŁ100 million, ÂŁ200m, ÂŁ500m — and then what does the manager want? Five players? OK, we’re going to invest ÂŁ200m or ÂŁ300m more.’

“The difference to another project is we’re doing all these fantastic things with our own resources. That’s why it’s massive credit for Daniel because, what he’s doing and being competitive like we are, it’s tough.”
