Mauricio Pochettino Hints Spurs May Not Be Indulged In January Signings

Mauricio Pochettino is unsure whether Tottenham Hotspur will bring in reinforcements in the January transfer window.

Despite being inactive in the summer Spurs haven’t had many problems in settling to life in the new season. Players like Lucas Moura and Heung-Min Sona have come up with substantial contribution to send the North London giants to the third position in the Premier League table.

Delay in their new stadium has already imposed strict budget restrictions and Pochettino once again is unlikely to be given a fat purse to be disbursed in the winter transfer window.

Spurs sneaked through to the Champions League last 16 with a late 1-1 draw with Barcelona and will host struggling Burnley in a bid to continue their good run of late.

Pochettino said, “No, not disappointed. I know very well that January is always difficult,

“In the same way, if you find some player, look what happened to different players that arrive in January last season.

“It takes time to understand and to perform, to fit with the team. Sometimes it’s better not to sign if you don’t find the right player.”

“Sometimes, players who maybe don’t play too much they need to go and play in another (club).

“OK, you can manage, but players that cannot manage to spend all the season not being important in the team, that is the moment to talk
with players that are maybe disappointed because they don’t play too much.

“Maybe the best decision is to send them on loan or to sell some players but that is about when the moment arrives to talk with different players.”
