Mauricio Pochettino has said that he would prefer talks of being linked to Real Madrid rather than being close to getting sacked.
The Tottenham Hotspur manager saw his side pull off a hard-fought draw against Barcelona at Nou Camp as the north London club qualified for the round of 16 in the Champions League a few days ago.
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said that he would prefer to be linked with some of the biggest clubs in Europe including Real Madrid rather than being close to losing his job at the north London club. The Argentine mastermind has been one of the most influential managers in the current scenario, helping Tottenham Hotspur become a European powerhouse, which reportedly has made clubs like Manchester United and Real Madrid go in for him.
The Spurs main man was answering a reporter’s question on whether he is bored of the speculations linking him to some of the top clubs in Europe or not when he said this. Pochettino said, “No. Why? This type of news I think does not upset or bore people.”
He added, “I prefer that newspapers talk about things like this than talk about ‘Tottenham is going to sack me’ or ‘people are tired of me’ or ‘we are in a difficult situation.’ Of course if I choose one situation I choose this one. I’m not bored of it, of course.”
The manager also told his players not to be complacent after their draw against Barcelona and concentrate on the next match against Burnley. He said, “It will be a tough game against Burnley and we can’t think because we are in the round of 16 of the Champions League and are in the next stage now that it will be easy to beat Burnley.”
