Mauricio Pochettino is feeling optimistic about PSG’s chances against Barcelona.
Both teams face off in the Champions League round of 16 next as PSG beat OGC Nice 2-1 to go top of the Ligue 1 Uber Eats table.
Barcelona are not in the best place right now under Ronald Koeman. With their budget slashed and no new incomings promised, the Blaugrana look disoriented with the cloud of Lionel Messi’s potential departure hanging over them.
“I thought we were very professional, but perhaps not brilliant,” Pochettino said following the Nice triumph.
“In the current circumstances, it is very difficult to play brilliantly. Putting all the ingredients on the table, I was happy with the attitude and the commitment of the players. The circumstances mean that in every game just now we are obliged to find ways to achieve our objectives, which are to win, win and win.”
PSG were in danger of getting knocked out of the Champions League but managed to get past Manchester United and Istanbul Basaksehir in the group stages. Now, they face a massive challenge after having reached the tournament final last season. Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and co. will have to on their best legs.
