Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri said that Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta will wear the captain’s armband against Arsenal today. Azpilicueta captained the club in their 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town as well. However, Sarri also stated that he hasn’t chosen any full-time skipper yet.

The Italian said, “But, as I said last week, for the moment the captain is [Cesar] Azpilicueta. But I want to know very well my players. In ten days or a couple of weeks, I will be able to decide the final one.

Gary Cahill was Chelsea’s skipper last season but right now, it is highly unlikely that he will be a starter for the club this season. However, Sarri did not rule out the possibility of Cahill being the captain this season.

He said, “I don’t know. Maybe Cahill. But I’d like to know very well the players [first].”

Sarri’s first Premier League game resulted in a win but he said that it will still take some time for Chelsea to reach the level he wants them to reach. Maurizio Sarri said, “It has been very difficult. This season, it has been very difficult for every club, and especially the most important clubs, with the World Cup and the friendly matches. One in Australia, one in Dublin, one in France. It has been difficult.

But we started to work all together only 10 days ago, so we have to work. We have to improve. But, in my opinion, in two months we can be a very good team.”
