Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri is desperate to keep talisman Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge and is willing to make him the club’s captain for the upcoming season. Hazard has been  strongly linked to Real Madrid with the Belgium skipper going to the extent to say that he it was his dream of playing in the club’s shirt. Gary Cahill was the Chelsea captain last season. However, the 32-year old center-back might find himself warming the bench more often or even leave the club provided Chelsea sign Daniele Rugani.
Other options that Sarri has for the captain’s armband are Spaniards Cesc Fabregas and Cesar Azpilicueta. Fabregas captained Chelsea in Sarri’s first game in charge of the club, a 1-0 win over Perth Glory. However, he might not be a regular this season. Cesar Azpilicueta could be a good bet for the captain’s armband though.
Eden Hazard is currently on vacation as Chelsea are trying to prevent Real Madrid from signing him. The Blues have many star players who have been linked to other clubs. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has also been linked to Real Madrid while Barcelona are in the hunt for Willian.
The Blues will begin their International Champions Cup campaign today against Inter Milan at Nice.
