Maurizio Sarri Says Chelsea Players Sometimes Too Confident

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri slams his players insisting they were too confident following their 2-1 defeat to Wolves.

The Blues crashed to their second successive loss of the season as they were made to pay for their lacklustre nature on the pitch. Chelsea were on the course of a victory as Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s deflected strike gave the visitors a deserving lead.

But the newly promoted side refused to give in and their continuous pressure ultimately paid off when Raul Jimenez sent the ball home through the legs of Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The home side didn’t have to wait much for the winner as Diego Jota coolly converted a well timed cross from Doherty to pile more misery on the Blues. The West London side are now level on points with Arsenal who played out a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.

Sarri said, “Of course, after this match we lost confidence but maybe it is better because sometimes my players show me they have too much confidence.

“It is more important to talk about our attitude after the first goal. We were not the same team as before, we were another team.

“Maybe it was important for the result but not for me. I have to understand why the team was suddenly another team because we were in control of the match.

“I thought we played very well for 55 minutes.

“After the first goal, that was an accident because we were in control of the match, we were suddenly another team, without our distances and without our football. “
