Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham Hotspur stand a chance to host their quarter final opponent at their new stadium.
Spurs eased their way to the Champions League quarters with a comfortable 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the round of 16 second leg. Harry Kane netted the winner in the 48th minute as the North Londoners await to know their fate as the draw is slated to be held on 15th March.
The new stadium is in the last phase of its renovation and a number of unscheduled delays have postponed the opening a number of times. Spurs have a contract with the Wembley authority to conduct all their home games at this stadium but the Argentine manager is expecting to play their Champions League quarter final at the new stadium.
“I expect to play in the new stadium.
“We were talking with (chairman) Daniel Levy on Monday and yes, my wish is to play in the new stadium.
“Before the game, we were sitting listening to the song of the Champions League and we were thinking it would be amazing to be standing in the new stadium, listening to the song.
“Now we are in the quarter-finals, we hope we can finish and we can listen to the song.”
