The ex-Inter boss is a candidate to replace Brendan Rodgers

Walter Mazzarri has flown to Liverpool to hold talks over potentially replacing Brendan Rodgers, according to Italian reports.

The ex-Inter boss is believed to have flown to England this morning and he has reportedly held talks with the club today about potentially becoming the club’s next manager.

Brendan Rodgers hasn’t got off to the best start this season, despite signing the likes of Clyne, Benteke and Firmino this summer. It has led to many Reds fans to call for his sacking and odds on him leaving Liverpool have been slashed.

Klopp and Ancelotti also linked

Things were made even worse when Liverpool only just scraped past Carlisle in the Capital One Cup on penalties in mid-week.

Jurgen Klopp and Carlo Ancelotti have both been heavily linked to replace Rodgers at Anfield and despite the former claiming he wants to manage in England, talks have reportedly not been held with either manager about potentially taking over.

Rodgers himself has admitted he is under pressure and if things don’t change soon, he could find himself out of a job, with Mazzarri looking a likely contender to replace him.
