PSG forward Kylian Mbappe said that he does not regret the push on Nimes player Teji Savanier that led to his red card. Savanier made a rash challenge on Mbappe and the 19-year old responded by pushing him. Eventually, referee gave a red card to both Mbappe and Savanier.

Following the match, Mbappe said, “It’s just an accumulation of things. It’s football. You have to learn when playing in this kind of club to let it go because it’s like that everytime so if I get upset every weekend, I’m going to take several reds so we have to be above it. No, I do not regret it. And if it was again, so I will do it again. And I will apologise to supporters and everyone but I cannot tolerate these kinds of gestures.”

About the tackle by Savanier, Mbappe said, “Where we play the ball, there are no problems, but here there is no intention to play the ball. But well, it doesn’t matter, I will go to the commission and I will go to defend myself. I think it has no place on a field of football but it does not matter, the referee has made a choice and, as I said, we must rise above it. Paris Saint-Germain is above that, we are above that.”

Overall, the match went pretty well for PSG. Goals from Neymar and Angel di Maria gave them a 2-0 lead. However, Nimes fought back and they scored twice in 8 minutes to level the match. First Antonin Bobichon scored before Savanier scored from the spot. Mbappe restored the lead for PSG in the 77th minute before Edinson Cavani added a fourth in stoppage time.

PSG’s next league match is against Saint-Etienne at Paris  on September 15.
