Barcelona’s medical team has confirmed that Lionel Messi will be out for six to eight weeks with a muscle tear in his left thigh. The first phase of Messi’s recovery will take place in Barcelona before he jets off to Buenos Aires to finish his recovery.
Messi was subbed off during the game against Real Betis on Sunday. This was Messi’s 16th game of the season in which he has scored 14 goals already this season.
Messi, who is generally an injury free player, has been plagued with injuries this season with this being his third already. On August 21st he suffered a bruised thigh against Atletico Madrid which kept him out for a week. Then on September 28th he suffered a small muscle tear in his right thigh which kept him out for four weeks.
