According to reports from Spanish weekly Don Balon, Lionel Messi wants Neymar back at Barcelona. Neymar joined Barcelona from boyhood club Santos in 2013 and soon became a integral part of the team there. After Luis Suarez joined the club in 2014, Messi, Neymar and Suarez formed one of the deadliest attacking trios in football history and got the nickname MSN.
In the three seasons from 2014-2017, Barcelona scored 520 goals across all competitions and MSN scored exactly 70% of those goals, 364. Neymar helped Barcelona to 8 titles during his stay at the club, including the Champions League, La Liga and the FIFA Club World Cup.
All-in-all, Neymar played 186 matches for Barcelona across all competitions, scoring 105 goals and providing 76 assists. He left Barcelona for PSG in 2017 on a world-record transfer fee of €222 million.
The Brazilian has been in terrific form for PSG this season so far. He has made 16 appearances across all competitions, scoring 13 goals and providing 6 assists.
Neymar’s current form has reportedly led Messi and Suarez to want him back at the club and revive MSN.
Barcelona are currenty at the top of their La Liga table but they haven’t been as lethal as many expected them to be this season. Barca lost 3-4 to Betis yesterday. This was their first defeat to Betis at home since a Spanish Super Cup leg in 2005. With Ousmane Dembele’s future at Barcelona doubtful, Messi and Suarez want barcelona to bring back Neymar.
Barcelona play their next match against Atletico Madrid on the 25th.
