During the last transfer window, the mainstream media were going crazy with rumours of Messi leaving Barcelona for the Premier League.
It turned out to be more fake news.
The target club was Chelsea, and the speculation was that Messi was unhappy at Camp Nou and The Blue were ready to snatch him up.
However, its also rumoured that Manchester United and Manchester City are keeping tabs on Messi’s situation
Since then Leo’s father has spoken out about a move away from Spain.
“There is no danger that Messi will leave Barcelona,” he told Spanish radio station Cadena SER.
Messi’s former team-mate Xavi is also confident the Argentina captain will resist any big-money away from Barca.
“I have no doubt that Messi will sign a new contract with Barcelona – no doubt at all,” Xavi told Fox Sports earlier this week.
“There will always be noise when it comes to Messi – he is the best player in the world people will always want to write about him.
“But there is often noise without any truth.
“Over the years there is no doubt that he would have had the chance to earn more money with clubs who have billionaire owners, but his heart is with Barcelona.
“It is a love affair between him and Barcelona – and a relationship that I see continuing for many years yet.”
