Mesut Ozil Set To Miss West Ham Game

Arsenal may have to face West Ham United without their star midfielder Mesut Ozil. The German midfielder is unlikely to feature in the London derby as he didn’t train at the Emirates Stadium with the team yesterday.

Ozil’s absence could be a blessing in disguise for Aaron Ramsey who saw himself dropped to the bench in a 3-2 defeat against Chelsea. There has been a contract stand off between the Welsh midfielder and the club as the player seems to be in no mood to rush a deal. The player got miffed after missing out the last game but boss Unai Emery may give him a chance to restore his faith.

The Gunners have lost back to back matches since 1992 and Emry is under tremendous pressure to deliver. One can’t really blame the manager as the former PSG boss had to encounter with defending champions Manchester City and Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea. Ozil has had his problems off the field as he has been criticised for his racist claims. Following Germany’s debacle in the 2018 World Cup the former Real Madrid midfielder took retirement from the national team after being criticised for a meeting with Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The 29 year old didn’t feature in a host of matches last season and also got subbed off after being on the pitch for just 68 minutes against Chelsea. Ramsey is expected to fill the void and the midfielder would be hoping for a good show against the Hammers.
