Michael Keane has praised Marco Silva’s vision to build a solid defensive side capable of resisting any proven attack in the world.
Keane has thrived at the Goodison Park and has had a solid season so far in the heart of the Everton defence. The Toffees looked hard to beat this term and opponents have struggled to get past their rigid defensive setup.
Keane himself has been leading the charge from the front and arguably one of the best performers in the Blue shirt. His ability to pick out the perfect pass has been very intelligently used by Silva as the former Manchester United defender has made fewer passes than midfielder Idrissa Gueye only.
They became the first team to resist Chelsea from scoring on their own turf and Keane insists he is enjoying the new way of defending. “The management make it clear – any good team has a solid defensive base.
“You can’t go out hoping to score four goals and hope you might only concede three.
“It takes time to get used to a different way of playing and a different way of defending.
“We have got used to that here and it is working well.
“We feel like we are progressing, playing good football and getting good results.
“For myself, I just have to keep coming in and thinking about the next day – working hard in training and seeing what I can improve. Then, game by game, making sure I am fully prepared and ready to give my best – like I have so far.”
