Mikel Arteta believes that Arsenal’s draw at Manchester City at the weekend proves that they can challenge for the title this season.
Arsenal became only the third team to not lose at the Etihad stadium since December 2010 and the Spanish midfielder believes that Arsena are well equipped to challenge for the title this season and to end the trophy droubt.
“I don’t know what is going to happen but in the last few years it is clear that we haven’t won the Premier League title and we have been far from it,” Arteta told the London Evening Standard.
“What we are trying to do is get as close as we can and keep building that belief that we are as good as the Manchester clubs.
“If we carry on until March or April, when it is really tight and hang in there, the spirit we have got in this team can get us something.
The Gunners are currently 5th in the Premier League and still unbeaten. They face top of the table Chelsea at the weekend finding themselves only four points behind their London rivals.
