Mills: Man United face 10-year wait for title

Manchester United might not win the Premier League for another decade, according to former England international Danny Mills. The current Prem champions lost 3-0 to Liverpool on Sunday and they are currently in seventh and 18 points behind the league leaders Chelsea.

“It could be 10 years at least before they win the title again,” claimed Mills “The whole rebuilding process is going to take three or four years at least. Then you have got to think Manchester City, Chelsea, Liverpool will strengthen – and Tottenham and Arsenal could possibly strengthen as well.” Man United won the league by 11 points last season but since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure and David Moyes’ arrival, the club have struggled.

Aside from being out of the title race, they are also 12 points away from a top four place, a place that would get them Champions League football. Before now, the Red Devils have only missed the Champs League once since 1993/94. United may still be able to qualify if they win the competition. But first they will have to overcome a 2-0 deficit against Olympiakos this Wednesday.

Mills added: “David Moyes has not won the league. He has not won a trophy. If he had a good team he might get back in the top four and Champions League, but I think that they are a long way off competing and winning the title.”
