If reports from earlier days are to be trusted, Liverpool were understood to have captured a real gem in Armenian midfielder from Shakhtar Donetsk, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, 24, for a big money move thought to be around £23million.
These reports claimed that the midfielder was due for a medical at Anfield today [Thursday], and that a deal was ‘almost done’.
Yesterday, however, Shakhtar Donetsk publicly stated that no contact with the Reds had been made regarding their star-man who scored 25 goals from midfield during last season.
Today, Sport Express Russia’s editor-in-chief, Artur Petrosyan wrote on Twitter, that Mkhitaryan wants to join Liverpool, but that his club is complicating the transfer:
“It’s not him who makes things complicated, it’s and his rights’ owners”, wrote the editor.
Moreover, Armenian source News.am are claiming today that the 24 year old is on his way to Merseyside to complete a medical tomorrow, and that a deal with officially be confirmed within 72 hours.
Uncertainty aside, the Liverpool faithful is extremely hopeful of seeing the player in Red next season, as he will represent a statement of intent from the club, shielding off Juventus and Paris St. Germain in their struggle to sign him.
but will he end at Liverpool?
