Arsene Wenger admits deal is complicated

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the club should be announcing the signing of Mohamed Elneny in the next two to three days.

The Gunners boss was speaking ahead of the FA Cup tie with Sunderland tomorrow afternoon and was questioned about the situation regarding the Egyptian international, and Wenger confirmed that the deal is slightly more complicated than usual.

Arsenal have been linked with Elneny for the past few weeks, and after the midfielder completed a medical in Paris and the two teams agreed on a fee, it was thought the deal would be done in time for the clash with Sunderland.

However, speaking in his press conference, Wenger has confirmed that the deal is still not finalised as it’s been more complicated than usual.

Complicated Deal

“It’s complicated a little bit but we work hard on it,” said Wenger. “I hope in the next two to three days we get to the end of it.”

Wenger then admitted that the FC Basel star may not be his only signing of the window.

“The only [signing]? I don’t rule out anybody else. He [Elneny] will at least be one of the signings and comes into an area where we are short at the moment.”
