Fiorentina are appealing Egyptian’s loan-move to AS Roma
Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah could be facing a ban from FIFA after completing his season-long loan move to AS Roma over the summer.
The Egyptian international spent half of last season in Serie A but with Fiorentina, and in that deal was a clause that stated Salah would have to return on loan for the 2015/2016 season if a permanent move elsewhere isn’t agreed to.
However, Salah and his agent stood firm and refused to go back to Fiorentina before completing a move to their Italian rivals Roma.
Fiorentina have appealed to FIFA about the transfer and they have confirmed that if Salah is found guilty, he could face a ban and Roma could be forced to pay compensation.
Appeal Confirmed
“Salah is a Roma player with a provisional transfer,” director general Andrea Rogg said on Thursday.
“If FIFA find us to be correct, the player will be banned and Fiorentina will receive compensation due to his refusal to play with us.
“Fiorentina’s position has already been made clear by (sporting director) Daniele Prade.”
Salah Failed at Chelsea
Salah failed to impress during his time at Chelsea, with severe competition for places on the wing and in the attacking-midfield positions, and Jose Mourinho thought it would be best to loan him out.
After impressing during his loan stint with Fiorentina, both Inter Milan and Roma wanted to bring him back to Italy, and it was the latter who got the deal over the line.
