Barcelona right-back Martin Montoya has been told he can leave the club by manager and will be allowed to leave Spain in the upcoming January transfer window.
This has alerted Liverpool who are now actively seeking to snatch Montoya on the cheap, or on loan with the option to buy at the end of the year.
The Reds have been long-term admirers of the Spaniard, who has appeared 38 times for Barcelona eventhough he has hardly featured outside of the club’s reserves in recent years.
It is understood that Montoya has grown in frustration with the club and himself is willing to look at other options elsewhere, with Inter Milan also another club interested in signing the defender.
The player himself has been said to favour a move to England and the Premier League, and it is becoming increasingly likely that Liverpool with sign Montoya shortly.
