Southampton midfielder won’t play again this campaign

Southampton have been dealt a major blow with the news that midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin won’t play again this season after suffering a knee injury against Tottenham Hotspur.

The 25-year-old has been instrumental for Ronald Koeman’s men this season and was largely missed the last time he was sidelined due to injury.

Successful Season

The Saints have overachieved this season by competing for a Champions League spot despite selling their star-names over the Summer to Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United.

Southampton were in the top-four for a large portion of the season, but when Schneiderlin missed a few games due to injury, they slowly started losing and falling down the table.

Europa League Battle

Now in a fight with Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur for the Europa League spots, Southampton will be damaged with the news that Schneiderlin won’t play again.

The Frenchman picked up a knee injury during the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Spurs and will now miss the remaining four games of the campaign.

Schneiderlin to Miss Games

He will miss the games against Sunderland, Leicester, Aston Villa and Manchester City.

With the injury keeping him out for the remainder of the season, there is a big chance that he may have played his last game for the club with a trio of English clubs interested in signing him.

Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with signing the midfielder over the Summer and could launch formal moves worth around ÂŁ25million.
