Mourinho eyes Norwich’s Ruddy

The Canaries keeper is seen as the ideal understudy to Thibaut Courtois

Ruddy, a former England international, is a target for Chelsea after Petr Cech announced his exit this summer.

Norwich boss, Alex Neil, has urged Mourinho to “get the chequebook out” if they are to stand a chance of landing the Championship shot-stopper.

He added: “there is always going to be interest… That will happen regardless of the situation we are in now, particularly around good players who have had a good season.”

In the wake of Cech announcing a move to Besiktas, Chelsea are determined to sign the 28-year-old – having failed with a £5million bid in 2013.

Championship vs. Premier League

Ruddy – who has one England cap – is thought to be keen on acting as Courtois’s understudy rather than another season in the Championship next season.

His move to Stamford Bridge will all depend on whether the Canaries achieve promotion from the Championship.

Saturday will see the Canaries do battle with Ipswich in their semi-final second leg after the two sides recorded a 1-1 draw at Portman Road last weekend.
