Real Madrid are keen on signing a new goalkeeper and have held a long term interest in de Gea.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has poured cold water on speculation linking his goalkeeper David de Gea with a move to reigning European champions Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants were close to signing the Spaniard back in 2015 only for the deal to collapse on transfer deadline day due to a faulty fax machine but now they have retained their interest and were reported to be preparing a fresh move for de Gea in the summer. However, Mourinho, a former Real Madrid manager, has now claimed that the Red Devils will not be letting go of their prized asset.

Mourinho said, “I think he will stay. I don’t know what Real Madrid’s intentions are, but if I were them, I would think of another player.”

It remains to be seen whether Mourinho’s comments will put off the Madrid outfit from making a move for de Gea.
