Jose gives ultimatum to United

Jose Mourinho has told Manchester United that he will only take the job at Old Trafford if he is given certain assurances from the board.

The Daily Telegraph report that the former Chelsea boss has demanded to be informed about the stability at the top of United’s hierarchy.

And he wants to be back to work as soon as the season ends in order to hit the ground running next term.

United chief executive Ed Woodward continues to dawdle over Louis van Gaal’s future but Mourinho will not wait forever.

The Telegraph add that Mourinho is not completely sold on the idea of managing United and that he is still assessing his options. Valencia, Everton and Real Madrid are all clubs that Mourinho has been linked with, so the United move is not set in stone yet.

One thing Mourinho is sure of are his wages. The 53-year-old will expect to be paid a minimum of ÂŁ10m-a-year wherever he ends up this summer.
