Following his side’s 2-0 loss against Manchester City in the FA Cup on Saturday, Jose Mourinho has spoken out saying that City can progress in the Champions League against “the worst Barcelona for many years.”

Manuel Pellegrini’s side are hopeful of reaching the quarter-finals of the Champions League fof the first time, but it will be no easy task as they have to play the side who have dominated European football in recent years. Despite the impressive pedigree of the Spanish champions, Jose Mourinho (who has a long history of tension with the Catalan club) still believes City can progress as Tata Martino’s side haven;t looked as dominant within the last year.

“Of course by history Barcelona is the favourite, but this Barcelona, this season, is showing that it is not the same in previous years.” Mourinho told ITV.

“Of course they have Messi, he is special, and they have more than him. But I think this is the worst Barcelona of many many years, so City have a chance.”

Barcelona reached the semi-finals last year but were beaten by a very impressive Bayern Munich side 7-0 on aggregate, and the Nou Camp side sit top of La Liga, ahead of Atletico madrid and Real Madrid.
