‘Oscar can be like Eden Hazard next year’

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes Oscar could become as vital as Eden Hazard in the club’s starting XI next season.

The Brazilian playmaker has been in the shadow of his midfield partner, but Mourinho thinks next season could be his best yet and believes he could develop into a player similar to Hazard.

Interest in Oscar

The 23-year-old had been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge over the Summer, with Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and even Liverpool all interested, but Mourinho has plans for the Brazilian and wants to keep him at the club.

Mourinho is desperate for Oscar to find the form Hazard did this season. The Belgium scored 14 goals and set up another nine for the team and was the real driving force behind the club’s title win.

Big Year for Oscar

However, Mourinho thinks next season could be Oscar’s chance to shine and develop into a potential world-beater.

“I have a feeling Oscar next year can have the same evolution Hazard had this season.”

Oscar receives mixed ovations from the Chelsea crowd with some still not convinced he’s good enough, whilst others tend to applaud his work-rate and commitment to the team.

Oscar over Mata

After arriving back at Chelsea, Mourinho made the decision to sell Juan Mata over Oscar due to the latter’s work-effort.
