Mourinho rules Chelsea OUT of race for Norwegian wonderkid!

He’s not yet 16. He can’t vote in the Norwegian elections, and he certainly can’t drink at the local bar. But he CAN play football for the Norwegian national team. Martin Odegaard, the 15-year-old sensation from Drammen in Norway, has already played for the Scandinavians in the Euro qualifiers. On October 13th, and at 15 years and 300 days old, Odegaard became the youngest player ever to play in the UEFA European Championship as Norway beat Bulgaria 2-1 in Oslo.

This feat was naturally heavily reported on around the footballing world and many clubs took note. Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have all expressed interest alongside Real Madrid.

Currently playing for Stromsgodset in his home town in Eastern Norway, Odegaard, an attacking midfielder, has the world at his feet it would seem.

With so many clubs showing interest, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has gone on record about the young star:

‘Where is he going?

‘I have heard about him. He goes to 25 clubs. I just want to know which one.

‘We are not in condition to go into this fight between the 25 clubs. We are a different profile of club. I don’t want to participate in the auction.’

So, it would seem Jose has opened the door slightly for some of Chelsea’s rivals to nab themselves a bargain.

With all the interest across Europe, Odegaard will be paying attention, and after researching the cost of a beer in Dremmen, Norway, we think he should be looking for a better salary, at least for when he reaches the age he can actually try one.
