Jose Mourinho has said that as many as nine players could be missing from the side ahead of the Liverpool match.

Manchester United will take on the Reds as they travel to Anfield in their 17th match of the season this weekend.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has said that at least nine players from the squad could be missing due to injury worries ahead of their needle clash against the current league leaders Liverpool. However, the Portuguese gaffer confirmed that three players in the form of Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Ashley Young, who had to sit it out against Valencia in their 2-1 defeat at the Mestalla, will be back in the squad against the Reds.

Mourinho, when asked which players from the Valencia match will play against Liverpool, said, “Marcos Rojo no because he’s injured.” He added, “The rest are not injured, they belong to the squad, we have lots of players that were not here today because they are injured, this is our squad, our players, they have a chance to play Sunday.”

The Manchester United manager also said, “Smalling is injured, Lindelof is injured, Darmian is injured, Martial is injured, Dalot is injured, the only two players I could bring and didn’t was De Gea and Matic.”

Manchester United’s injury concerns are growing with every match and currently consists of a number of first team stars including the likes of Chris Smalling, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez. Both Nemanja Matic and David De Gea were rested for the match against Valencia as the Red Devils have already qualified for the next round.
