Jose Mourinho has spoke of his shock of Cesc Fabregas’ move back to the Premier League.

Chelsea were able to snatch the Spanish playmaker from various clubs for ÂŁ27m once the transfer window opened this summer, after the player persisted a move away from Barcelona.

Fabregas was able to score his first goal at Chelsea during their 3-1 win over Dutch outfit Vitesse Arnhem and boss Mourinho admits he was surprised at the transfer.

“I always thought Cesc would stay a Barcelona player,” Mourinho told The Times

Mourinho also admits Fabregas is the missing piece in the Chelsea jigsaw and has an excellent ‘football brain’.

He added: “We want to move in a different direction. It’s something our football needs.

“I see him [Fabregas] everywhere, because he can play everywhere.

“His best quality is the speed at which he analyses the game and executes. He’s very intelligent. And he gives you goals.”
