Muller signs new contract at Bayern

Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has signed a new contract at the German club until 2019, ending Manchester United’s hopes of signing the player.

Long-serving left-back Philipp Lahm has also been tied down to a new deal, which will see him stay until the summer of 2018.

It was understood that Manchester United boss Louis Van Gaal was monitoring Muller’s situation at Bayern, with the player seemingly unwanted due to the new arrival of Robert Lewandowski.

And the forward told a German magazine earlier this month that he had reached a point in his career where he did not know if he would play a part in Bayern’s starting eleven anymore.

But now the German international has ended all speculation after holding talks with the club and putting pen to paper on a new contract.
