My ‘psycho’ tag has cost me a move, says Bendtner

Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner believes his reputation is damaging any chances of him leaving the club in order to play regular first-team football.

The Dane has been wanting to leave Arsenal permanently for the last three years or so, but has never been able to finalise a move away from the Emirates Stadium, despite numerous clubs being linked with his signature.

A lot of reports have claimed in the past that his wage demands have stalled any likely move, but the Danish international believes his reputation is to blame, as potential buyers think he is a ‘psycho’.

‘I have, for example, talked to clubs who say they have heard this or that story about me,’ he said.

‘So I have to tell them that it is not true. Of all the things that I have been associated with I have only done one thing wrong and that was in Copenhagen (he was arrested for drink driving in March last year).

‘Regardless of this I have bit by bit, in people’s eyes, been made into a psychopath.’

During his career, Bendtner has had loan spells away from Arsene Wenger’s side, with Birmingham City, Sunderland and Juventus all taking him on for a season, but none of them extended his stay permanently.

Bendtner has scored twice for Arsenal this season, once against Hull City, and the other coming in the last minutes against Cardiff City.
