Manchester United winger Nani has pledged his allegiance to the club today after signing a new 5 year contract.

The 26 year olds contract was set to expire this summer and his future has been uncertain over the last few months. He only had a bit part role in United’s campaign last year with his season blighted by injury and the winger looked destined for an Old Trafford exit. Monaco and Juventus were believed to be weighing up ÂŁ12 million moves for the winger this summer but David Moyes has tied down the Portuguese international on a long term deal.

Moyes has been understood to have been very impressed by the wingers attitude and the way he works in training and he has the capacity to be a match winner.

The United manager said: ‘I’m really pleased Nani has re-signed for the next five years. He has great ability and experience beyond his 26 years. I’ve been impressed with his approach to training and look forward to working with him in the coming seasons.’

Upon signing his new deal, Nani said: ‘Playing at United has been a fantastic experience for me. When I came to the Club, I never imagined the success we have enjoyed.
‘Training every day with top players who want to win trophies every year is a great motivation to me. I’m very happy that the new manager has shown this faith in me and I’m looking forward to helping the team compete for more honours this season.’
