New Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti is keen to bring Argentina winger Angel di Maria to the club. Even though Di Maria has a year left on his current contract with PSG, there have been reports that he could be leaving the club following the arrival of new coach Thomas Tuchel.
Ancelotti has made it clear that Di Maria is one of his top priorities and is eager for a reunion with the winger. Ancelotti had previously coached Di Maria for a year when the two were at Real Madrid in 2013-14.
Reports claim that Napoli have offered Di Maria a three-year contract with a sum of €4 million per season. However, negotiations are yet to begin with PSG over Di Maria.
The 30-year old Di Maria played 45 matches for PSG last season across all competitions. He scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists. He did not have the best of World Cups this summer but scored one of the goals of the tournament against France in the round of 16 which Argentina lost 4-3.
Even though Di Maria made plenty of appearances for PSG last season, the presence of Neymar and the arrival of Kylian Mbappe might see him lose his place as a winger in the starting XI. His addition to Napoli would add a lot of flavor to their midfield which already has the likes of Marek Hamsik, Jorginho and Piotr Zielinski.
Napoli have already signed three players during the summer transfer window namely, forward Simone Verdi, goalie Alex Meret and midfielder Fabian Ruiz
