Serie A side want £67million for striker

Napoli have informed Premier League clubs their asking-price for star-striker Gonzalo Higuain – £67million.

The Argentine striker has a release clause in his contract which stands at £67m, and the Napoli board have warned interested parties that they won’t accept a bid worth anything less.

Higuain Wants Out

Higuain is widely expected to leave Naples this summer, following Rafael Benitez, who joined Real Madrid, but with the Serie A club holding out for near enough £70m, it’s not looking like anyone will launch an official bid.

It’s reported that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in the Argentinian, but have all been put off by Napoli‘s excessive demands.

According to Italian publication Corriere Dello Sportthe Italian side have already turned down an offer from Arsenal, which was reportedly worth just over £40m.

Statement from Napoli

After knocking back Arsenal’s offer, Napoli released the following statement regarding their star-asset: “The club stresses that the Argentine has an existing contract clause of £67 million.

“No bids below that figure will be accepted, those who want the player will have to match that valuation.”

Higuain is under contract in Italy until 2018, but after the club failed to reach the Champions League for next season, it’s reported that he wants out of the club this summer.

However, with the board of the club refusing to sell for less than his release clause, he may have to remain in Italy.
